Autumn Farm Visit at Thistledown Farms
Hello Viewer,
For this week's photos, we have taken a trip to Thistledown Farms, located in Eugene, Oregon. During the month leading up to Halloween, Thistledown offers a horse drawn carriage ride to go locate the perfect pumpkin for you out in their vastly open patch. Me along with one other friend, both in costumes, visited Thistledown on October 29 of 2022. For my subject, I learned that his name is Randy. Randy has been working at the farm for quite a few summers now and from him along with a few others employees working with the horses pulling the carriage, I learned a lot about the history of this farm and all the delicious crops that they grow here.
The carriage driver of the wagon that we sat with on the way to the pumpkin patch described that Thistle Down farms has been a small family owned farm since 1981. I also learned that nearly 800 acres of property, they barely have any space not filled with delicious fruits and vegetables. The farm grows thousands of pounds of crops, 75 sorts to be exact, a year. What I heard from Randy was that, with the help from their loyal customers coming out each year, it always keeps a smile on his face to see them come back again.
The diligent and prudent work performed by Randy and the other employees really shows in their delectable crops and handmade items, that range from Strawberries to hanging baskets to even adorable plant pots that looks like pigs. Thistledown has everything that you may need to get your Autumn/Fall colors fix for the festive season.
